Chopper was treated 2 weeks ago via emergency for urinary blockage/crystals. Regualr vet put on antibiotics adn science diet c/d canned for 10 days. He jsut finished both and I have permanently switched him from dry to canned InnovaEvo all natural food (I think science diet c/d has too many questionable ingredients and it never helped my first cat who suffered from crystals and stones)
@ days ago when I switched him to the InnovaEvo he started open mouth breathing occassionally, then a gagging every 10-20 min. He still eats, does not vomit, an xray shows no foreign objects in airway, vet thinks it's allergies. Nothing but his recent medical crises and food have changed. But I though it took longer than 2 days to develop food allergies, unless it was the initial science diet c/d i fed him for 10 days...
any ideas? His eyes are clear, he seems uncomfortable when gagging, is not as active, there is no sneezing or discharge.
Thanks!

I don't know what is causing the open-mouthed breathing, but if you suspect that it is related to the food, try another canned food, or fresh meat, and see if it goes away. Under no circumstances should he have access to dry food.
