Enlarged spleen in a cat

marespooscats Sep 12, 2006 09:57 PM

My Missy had surgery today to find out why she was not eating and why she LOST weight when she did eat.

Vet found 2 hernia's and some intestines in one of them. He found lesions in hre other intestines and worst of all her spleen in enlarged.

Does an enlarged spleen mean cancer or another life threatening disease? I wont get the biopsy report back till maybe friday and I am so scrared!

An enlarged spleen in dogs is often cancerous, but that is not the case in cats. In cats, it is more likely the result of a blood parasite.
