Some kind of food allergy or something..

lil_animal_gurl Feb 22, 2007 11:27 PM

My kitty, Pirate has been vomiting after eating for about a month now. He's been to the vet twice, where he was prescribed Reglan to settle his tummy when he ate to see if he would adjust to it and to see if there was some other underlying problem. Well, while on the meds, he has not vomited once, but I finished his prescription a few days ago and it started again. I've tired several different diets, dry, wet and a little raw and so far something in all of them is making his tummy upset. Is there some kind of test I can have run to find out exactly what is in food that is upsetting him? It's really getting frustrating that only the pills are working. Please help!

Offer your cat cooked chicken, cut into smal pieces, a small amount every hour or so, and stop all other food. Try this for 4 or 5 days. If vomiting still occurs, stop the chicken and try cooked hamburger the same way. In any case, don't give cats dry food. They often vomit on that alone.

I'll try the cooked chicken. I already know the hamburger won't work because I fed it as a treat a few days ago and it made not only my sensitive cat, but one of my other cats, vomit as well. Is ground turkey okay? They have that in a store here so I might be able to try that.
