Spraying

FireDrake Apr 24, 2007 04:37 PM

Long story short, I am trying to sell my condo so have staged it, cleaned it and am unfortunately resorting to keeping my cats contained in a kennel so they do not escape when people are showing it.... And my 3yo male neutered cat is spraying now. I KNOW it's behaivoral, already using Feliway which seems to help only if I spray EVERYTHING EVERY DAY... Is there anything holistic I could try? I am not giving up on him, but I cannot have a house reeking of cat urine while I am trying to sell it, we have already lost a buyer because it smelled that day.

Thanks

Sarah

I would guess you have all your cats together in a confined space. Your male, by spraying, is trying to claim some space as his own in a crowded area. You might try separating him from the others, either in a crate in another room. or board him somewhere, perhaps with a friend or family member until you move.

Well, the condo is 879 square feet, and it has an upstairs and down stairs, it's not a tiny confined space. He has plenty of room to get away or be as close to the other cats as possible, and he's been in here with the other cats most of his life.... this just started when we staged the place..... making MORE room for him to run around.
