Should he see the vet now or can it wait

assie2071 Apr 29, 2007 02:30 PM

My 14month old is coming due for his vacc boosters soon, but he has been behaving strangly and I am wondering if I should take him in now. He has been doing this strange weezing/open mouth breathing. He has only done it twice once a few months ago and again a few days ago. Each "attack" only lasted about 10 sec if that and he was fine immediatly afterward and the rest of the time. It is something I will bring up to my vet when he get his vacc but I am wondering if he should be seen earlier or if it can wait till the vacc are due.

First of all, a rabies vaccination is the only vaccination an adult cat should ever receive, and only if state laws require it or if the cat is in a situation where he may be exposed to a rabid animal. And no vaccination should ever be given to an animal that is not completely healthy. If the cat is having respiratory problems, it should be seen immediately, and no vaccination given, even if required, until the problem is diagnosed and cured.
