underweight cat

assie2071 Apr 29, 2007 02:57 PM

I have a 3-yr old DLH that is chronically underweight. She has been like this since she was a kitten. I don't normally feed dry food, but I give her a 1/4 cup a day to help her weight, but all she'll eat is that 1/4 cup and maybe 1/2 of a 3oz single serve can. I can feel all her bones, the vet has told me she is fine, they've done every test they can and nothing is wrong with her except her weight. Is there anythign else I can do to improve her weight.

Instead of dry and canned cat food, try feeding her chicken with small bones and cheap, fatty hamburger, fed raw. This will help get her to her proper weight, but if she is already at the optimal weight, she may not increase.
