IBD in cat

mingdurga May 21, 2007 01:49 PM

The results of ultra sound showed one kidney smaller than other.
Some blood levels elevated, some lower. Vet said it wasn't a major concern now. Because of diarrhea problems, soft stools, cat may have to be on flagyl, and or, panacur to see if problem is bacterial or parasitical: Prednisone mentioned also as another alternative.
Are there any "natural" remedies that work as well? No problem giving pills or liquids, but prefer natural alternative.

It would make sense first to put the cat on a raw meat diet along with a probiotic to see if the intestines straighten out. If that is no help, enteric coated peppermint oil may help.

My cat has lost appetite for past 2 days. Not lethargic. Acting normal, except when food offered she sniffs and walks away. Was giving her raw beef with catfood, about 125 mg. flagy
(purchased in pet store; 250 mg. cut in half); also giving enteric coated peppermint oil capsules.
Is there anything to get her appetite going again?

try giving her the food without the medication to see if she will eat at all. If she does, you may want to give the medication separately.
