cat with Typhlititis

marespooscats Jun 15, 2007 10:59 AM

My cat has been eating less and less, losing weight, and acting very tired for 3 months now - also drinking a lot of water.

3 months ago bloodwork was fine and a re check with more bloodwork is normal too.

BUT he suddenly just stopped eating - would not eat anything offered and just wanted to be alone to sleep.

Worried I took him to the vet. Xrays were normal and teeth were fine so he was ultra sounded.

Ultra sound showed he has Typhlitis. It says this is a precancerous condition.

The only meds he is on is flagyl.

Can anything be done - meds ---- pred or chemo or will this just get worse till he dies?

This cat is 4 years old, male neutered and a DHS Tabby. He is mainly an indoor cat but goes out 2x a day on leash and harness and out to the back yard (fenced and with a cat fence) in the day.

Give your cat a good quality probiotic twice a day. Use a human product, open one capsule, and sprinkle it on a good quality food at each meal.
