peppermint oil problem

mingdurga Jun 18, 2007 01:32 PM

Gave my female cat one capsule of the peppermint oil and within 3 hrs. or so, she exhibited dizzyness and was unsteady on her feet. She walked around the room a few times in a fog.

This is the third time I've had this reaction in the past 3 weeks. It persists for more than 5 hours or so. Should I stop giving her the oil or is this normal?

Apparently she is reacting to the peppermint oil. First of all, how is her stool? Does she still have a problem? If the problem has resolved, there's no reason to continue the treatment. Is this an enteric-coated pill? And how many milligrams does it contain? They don't seem to have a reaction with the 50mg size. However, you might want to try some other treatment if the cat has such severe reactions.

She still has the stool problem. The peppermint oil is enteric, but the mg. amt. is not listed for some reason. It just says 0.2 ml. peppermint oil, and 0.2 of some filler ingredient.

I have had good results using peppermint oil in 50mg softgels. If you have a problem finding this, contact me privately.
