Senior Siamese

KatieKalico Jul 22, 2007 06:44 AM

Six years ago I adopted a Siamese stray. I know nothing about Siamese. He was estimated to be 8 or so years old when I found him, so now he would be 14+ years old. My question is about his coloring. His points have faded a noticeable amount over the years and I was wondering if this is normal. He recently had a total blood panel with his annual checkup and everything was in the normal range. He is inside only, but has access to a screen porch where he can get plenty of sunlight. Any ideas about his color fading ? Thank you. Terri

Is he shedding normally? Does his hair seem darker at the roots? Otherwise, I don't know why the color would fade.

I know that this is an older post, but I wanted to mention that my kitty's color faded also when he was the sickest. He did, however have terrible jaundice which was noticable in his gums and the inside of his ears. I can't imagine that your vet would miss such a thing. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
