Tritrichomonas foetus

phillyboyintn Sep 22, 2007 12:49 AM

I'm pretty sure 2 of my 3 bengals have this. They have been to the vet and all of their fecal tests show negative for any parasites. The 2 bengals however have frequent daily defecation and it's always liquid and smells AWFUL. Every now and again there will be bloody mucus on said runny poop. If this is indeed Tritrichomonas foetus, how do I treat it? Thanks in advance!

It is more likely that they have a dysbiosis, the wrong mix of intestinal bacteria. Try feeding only fresh raw meat for a week, along with a probiotic at each meal. This should normalize their stool.
