Feral cat problem?

mingdurga Nov 13, 2007 08:26 AM

Any hope for 2 female spayed rescues that are totally anti-social, anti-human, etc. Hide all day, maybe come out at night when I'm sleeping. Can't pick up without getting the business.
They don't seem antagonistic towards my two current cats.

Will time and appetite bring them around or is this a lost cause?

Thanks,

Mike.

It is hard to predict if the cats will ever become friendly. Many cats do, after a while, but I once saw a cat on a house call that was living with another cat, tamed and people-friendly, that was always fearful of people, even having lived with them in the house for a year. We had to catch the cat with a net in order to examine and vaccinate the cat. A year later, the people had bought a house and were moving, and we had to go through the same procedure to catch the cat in order to bring it to the new house. So 2 years in a house with humans did not mellow the cat. Many cats, though, do adapt very well to humans. It is hard to predict the future.
