glucosamine

solaandlunasmom Feb 26, 2008 09:42 AM

Hi there. My cat's right front leg will occasionally shake when he is standing for a long period of time. He's 12. I'm assuming this is early arthritis? Will glucosamine help? If so, how much do i use? I bought some capsules but I'm not sure how much (if any) I should add to his food. Is there anything else that will help?

thanks!

Lisa

Cats don't get arthritis to the same extent as dogs, so , based on the leg shaking, I would not conclude that it is arthritis. While the glucosamine certainly won't hurt anything, I doubt that it will help. If there is no improvement, take your cat to a veterinarian and have this leg-shaking problem diagnosed.

what could a shaking leg indicate? He's going in for another echocardiogram in April, it is okay to wait until then? It's only one leg and it only shakes occasionally. He's also overweight. Not sure if that could be the cause.
