turning brown around heat?

ok, i havea rudis chameleon, and whenever he goes outside, goes near a heatlamp, or has a bright light shown on him he'll go directly from bright green to brown immediatly, wouuld that mean that he doens't like these things?? or what else could it mean

It's normal. When chameleons are exposed to natural sunlight they will usually get darker colors so that their body absorbs the heat from the sun (or heat source). If they get a little too warm, they will turn a lighter color and look for shade. Do you have his normal cage warm enough? If he's constantly bright and light colors, he may need a slightly warmer spot in his cage and should go to and from this spot throughout the day.
