natural remedy for hairballs?

solaandlunasmom Mar 05, 2008 03:09 PM

Hi there. Is there anything you suggest that is a natural remedy for hairballs? I used to give petromalt once a week until I read that the mineral oil is bad for cats. Since I stopped giving that, however, my cat has been vomiting 2-3 hairballs a week! I tried putting salmon oil on his food, but that doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lisa

Try adding 1/2 tsp. finely ground wheat bran or psyllium husks, along with a little water, to your cat's food at each meal. If the problem remains, try using digestive enzymes with the food.
