Holistic remedy for feral cats

mingdurga Mar 18, 2008 02:51 PM

My two feral girls (11 mos) are "normal" cats except when you try to pick them up or get too close. They get along great with my two other cats. Anything in homeopathic medicine to calm them so I can handle and get them to a vet for a complete checkup? CBC and Urine analysis. I don't want to stress them trying to get them inside the carrier. I've tried leaving carrier on floor, but they won't take the bait.

Thanks,

Mike

For feral cats, fear of people is a healthy reaction, so there is nothing that is pathological to correct. You need to get them used to you by having more contact. Try staying close when you feed them. Move slowly when close to them. Try to pet them while they are eating. If that doesn't work, you might have to get some acepromazine from the vet and put it into their food to calm them down so you can pick them up, put them in a carrying casr and take them to the vet. Homeopathic Aconite may help remove some of the fear.
