Possible FIP?

Bobbys_dad Sep 29, 2008 02:19 PM

I have an 8 year old cat that was showing signs and symptoms of FIP.
Bloated/distended abdomen
Bones visible under skin
Malaise
Lack of grooming
Reduced appetite

This is the strange part though. He started showing these symptoms at the end of the winter before last and seemed to recover. Symptoms recurred this last winter and lasted through most of summer but has again receded except for the malaise and grooming. Stomach is no longer distended.

I am at a loss. I am now doubting FIP but I know so little about it except for the conflicting and often, confusing information on the web. Any help anyone?

I am also looking for information on purchasing nosodes in the US.

The symptoms look like FIP. Have you had a blood test done? Or had some abdominal fluid drawn off? FIP often presents itself when the immune system is suppressed, due to stress or vaccinations. If he gets over each episode, that is great. Feed him a fresh meat diet and avoid all dry food.

I am taking him to the vet today, I have avoided this due to the treatments often being worse than the disease. I am feeding him only raw Chicken and today I am starting with fish (natural caught, not farmed). Is there any contraindications with doing this? Also any idea on the nosodes in the US?
