my 5 year old DSH neutered Tabby boy has had 6 instances of inappetence in just over a year

UC Davis did ultra sound and bloodwork but all was fine. My OWn vet just did more bloodwork (this is a year later) AND took biopies of liver, intestines, pancreas, stomach etc. ALL were normal - with the exception that he has hyperplasia in one lymph node.

I got him home and he won't eat again. NOW they say it is behavioral?!

Could Vet have missed something - maybe she should have done a biopsy on another part of the stomach or another lymph?

This has been going on for over a year and he has lost a couple of ounces but then when he does eat he gains it back.

Vet thought HE had lymphoma yet blood and biopsies are normal so what IS causing this?

Ben is mostly inside or out in my cat fenced in back yard so he has not eaten anything he should not.

What are you feeding Ben? Is Ben your only cat and is there anything that is upsetting or annoying him? If he puts the weight back on, perhaps he is reacting to something in his environment. What else can you tell me about Ben?

Suddenly in july of 07 he decided he did not want to eat I bought MANY different foods and he refused to do more than eat one for a day and then would stop

I took him up to UC Davis and they did blood work and an ultra sound and he had typhlitis.

He was put on flagyl and within about a month he was fine and back eating.

This inappetence has continued for a week or so at a time twice more in '08 and now into '09.

Bloodwork is normal and surgical biopsies showed all was normal but he has also developed a fear of everything and no longer wants to go out on his walks.

He USED to be my Houdini and kept escaping but the other day, on our walk, he got scared and pulled the leash from me and ran HOME rather than away!

He WAS eating purina UR as he had crystals (he simply will NOT eat canned or even raw!) but now he is eating Chicken soup dry adult, Advanced Pet diets Salmon and chicken, Blue regular and Blue chicken and salmon and WAS eating wellness Salmon nad chicken.

He has two "siblings" that eat near him but now days I tssssst at them and send them away soon as they finish so he can eat in peace

First of all, since Ben has had urinary tract problems, he should not have any dry food. As a matter of fact, no cqt should have dry food. I would guess that Ben is not feeling well; he may have typhlitis again. As far as food is concerned, try giving him cooked chicken, as he won't eat raw. Cut it up small. Are his BM's formed, and does he hasve gas? He might do well with some probiotic added to his food at each meal.
