Skin Disorders Cat

prisscot Jan 26, 2009 10:04 AM

My cat is 18 yrs old. He has developed a skin disorder and has lost lots of hair. I've taken him to my vet twice on this. My vet tells me he does not have any mites or parasites. He bathed him in some solution which took off the crusty patches, and he has also given him some type of a cortisone injection. Both have not worked. I use Revolution per recommendation of vet. My vet said to bring him back in for another bath if the crustiness comes back. Needless to say, it's very stressful for the cat to go to the vet, much less a bath. The crustiness only appears where he is losing hair and it is not all over. Mainly on his shoulder area, down one side and under his chin. Base of tail is fine. does anyone have any ideas?

You don't mention what you are feeding your cat, but I would suggest adding some fresh meat, some plain yogurt, and some cod liver oil to her diet.
