Do you have to have direct unfiltered sunlight?

OttoNLucy Oct 14, 2003 06:02 PM

I had to move into an appartment that gets no direct sunlight. I have no idea what I can do to get my Jacksons Cham the sunlight he is used to. I used to leave him in his basking cage for about 10 hrs of direct sun a week.
I bought the new Arcadia 7% UVB incandecent bulb and he has a Reptisun 5.0 12" bulb as well. I have been also using a ZooMed Powersun MV bulb for about an hour a day.
Will he still need natural sun or is there an artificial way to get him the UVA & UVB he needs? ANy Ideas?

Your setup sounds fine. Chameleons don't NEED sunlight. It's just nice to have. Often sick or recovering chameleons benefit the most from it, but other that that, it's just a bonus and kinda gets them a little boost. If possible, find a way to give a few hours a week of sunlight and other that that, use the UVB bulbs and give them some small form of D3 once a week. You said Jackson's right? Maybe every other week.
