As some of you know, Marvin has been anorexic for some time, and been receiving B-Complex vitamin injections to increase his appetite. He has also been self barbering, pulling and chewing his furs off. He eats enough to get by, but not enough to gain weight, and is currently about half his fighting weight so to speak.
I took him into the vet yesterday and upon exam all was good, but the truth came in the CBC and Chem Panel. His red-blood-cells are about half what they should be, 12%. He is in renal failure, whether acute or chronic we don't yet know. He also has an extremely high amount of globulins (gremlins?). They are running a test to see what sort of globulins are overpopulating, and will with the results be able to tell if it is (A) infection related, either viral or fungal or (B) cancer. The vets feelings seem to be leaning towards cancer, possibly lymphoma. Will know more once they run the last test, electrophoresis. Results will be either tomorrow (Friday) or Monday. I, Terri mom will update as I can, but in the meanwhile would be thrilled if you could all get the GLOW machines cranked up for us.
Much love,
Marvin's mom
