I have a 4 year old male normal cornsnake that is past blue and ready to shed. He has been visiting a friend for the last 2-3 weeks as he is a great and baby-tame boy. Today I got a worried and excited phone call that there was something terribly wrong with him. They said that everytime he breathed an awful sound came out. So they returned him to me and by the time they arrived he seemed perfectly normal. Seems that I read somewhere that this can happen when a snake is shedding and perhaps some skin can get loose around his nose and obstruct his breathing somewhat. He has not repeated this symptom and I have not seen any fluid or bubbles around his nose or mouth. I am watching him closely but truly believe that this is something that can happen when in shed. Can anyone confirm this for me?
