Odd discharge attached to shed

YoPonce Oct 14, 2003 07:31 PM

I have a one year old female (I think) corn snake. It seems to be perfectly happy and healthy. It recently shed, and I noticed a pair of small, elongate objects attached to the shed that look like they could be some sort of dried discharge or mucous from the vent that got pulled out with the shed. The snake appears just fine, so I'm not too concerned. I was just wondering if anyone had seen this before and could tell me what it is and if it's a problem. Thanks!

I'm surprised you haven't noticed this before. Actually, at about a year, these things become apparent. This a normal circumstance, and you should see this just about every time from now on.

Okay, thanks. I figured that was the case, but wanted to ask around to be sure. It's my first snake, though I've been keeping other herps for a while, and I wasn't sure about it. Thanks for the advice!
