Is it possible for a Uro to get too much calcium?

Tigergenesis Oct 14, 2003 07:50 PM

If so, what could potential problems be?

To overdose calcium per se is hardly possible. Excess calcium will be excreted. But if you overdose Vit. D3 simultabeously, wou can run into severe problems. Often these are misunderstood, because the externally cvisible symptomes of Vitamine D /Ca overdosing can be very similar to MBD.
So always take care to dose D3 correctly. If you give like 50-100 IU D3 per week and kg animal you are on the safe side.

Hope that helps

It's my understanding that using Calcisand as a substrate can cause "over dosing" sue to the fact they ingest it regularly. Just a thought.
