hard water deposits

boandmelly Oct 14, 2003 08:35 PM

i was wondering if anyone has had luck getting hard water deposits off of glass aquariums

i used to have fish in it but am now wanting to use it for reptiles, but it looks nasty. i've tried soaking it in bleach, and then scrubbing it to pieces....nothing happened...when it dries it looks the same :0(

any help will be much appriciated! :0)
thanks in advance

Acid based lime removers and razor blades is the best way I've found. Wear rubber gloves when using the cleaner.

Bleach won't do anyting to the water deposits. Theoretically it will make them worse.

Try using a mixture of vinegar and water. If that doesn't work you can use a harsher chemical like CLR or Lime Away. Make sure you rinse it good and air out before putting any animals back.

A razor blade or soaking for at least 30 minutes in equal parts vinegar and water will take it off.
