Corn snake man thinkin' of switchin'...

Hey there gang, my name is AJ, and I'm in St. Louis. I've been into corn snakes for four years now, and I've had some awesome success breeding. However, there's a TON of cornsnakes out there, and although I'll never get rid of my babies, I was thinkin' of switchin' to something else, like maybe garters. A guy at a herp meeting had a bunch of them, albinos and normals het for albino, and I really liked them. My question is, what's their temperment? What's their housing requirements? What's a normal substrate/water requirements? What do they eat? Ok, that's a few more than one question, but I really like their look, and want more info. Thanks!

I have always kept mine pretty much like a corn. 20 gallon tank is standard, aspen shavings, nice size bowl, hide box. I like heat lamps for my natricines in case they want to bask. Most will take rodents if cb, but some need fish. Most calm down pretty nicely, though some, especially as babies, can be skittish. Andy
