Octavia went to the bridge at 5:30 this morning. She had been dozing in my arm's for several hours. You at MCV are the only ones who truly understand since you have had your hearts torn and psyches aged and bowed by loss of those special ones. I have truly without reservation loved very few beings and am not handling this well so detachment alternates with tears. Knowing that we will be together at the bridge one day is all that stems the sorrow but all of you know that terrible feeling. Octy lives in my mind in her mischievous, wonderful, never-down, playful person and I look forward to seeing her in dreams which will come.
A CT scan at the university revealed the removed polyp had been the visible part of a massive malignant mass that had already involved much of her brain so the other perforated ear was not the problem. My vet had said that was a possibility but I didn't even want to consider it. Surgery or radiation not feasible due to the size and coverage of brain tissue; attempts would have just brought her pain and hospitalization with only a one-three month time extension --- if "successful." The people up there have called once or twice a day to ask about her so we know she charmed them, too, even in her unstable state. We brought home meds to control inflammation but knew it would be short days. I am just grateful that she was cuddled and as comfortable as possible at home when she made the journey.
Thank you all for "listening".
