Help me with my superworms

jrbl Oct 14, 2003 09:27 PM

I have a question about superworms. I have heard they need heat to pupeate and brred, is this true? If so, I have a heat rock that none of my reptiles use, and I was thinking I could put it in with the superworms. Would this be a problem? Would the superworms tr to chew on the cord? Thank you for your help, jrbl

I would think any insect has optimal temperature and humidity ranges to reproduce. I am not sure what is optimal for superworms, but I have kept them from 75-85F. I preferred to keep them at 80F, but night and day high temps fluxuate. If temperature is too cool, they will slow down and to a point, die. If it is too hot, they die also. I don't know the maximum and minimum temperature range. Just the range I normally keep them at...

Do not use heat rock...for anything. Sad to say, but it is an expensive paperweight with a cord. Placing anything in a superworm cage that leads out that they can climb is a bad idea also, since it leasts to mass exodus of bugs in your house when you are not looking.
