CalicoHobbyist.com Revisited

MissDaphne May 02, 2003 08:02 PM

Well, a month now has passed since the tragic loss of Byng, our Calico Morale Officer, and my goggie friend Lillie. My hoomin mom has had a bad flu and been very busy with work, so she had to borrow the computer from me and I was not able to work on my plan to take over the CatHobbyist site with CalicoHobbyist.

NEVER FEAR! Calico 'tude will of course prevail now.

I will have a page ready for your review after the weekend sometime. Please be ready for emergency strategy planning meetings!

Miss Daphne

Are there any rescue groups for calicos?

Any calico-relate websites, either about individual calicos or about calico-ness in general?

Books about calicos?

What cat breeds come in calico? I know Persians do.

Are there any mailing lists about calicos?

How about events, are there calico events, even informal ones?

Thank you for all help!

Miss Daphne

I did a google search and found TONS of websites dedicated to calicos (mostly individual pet sites), some with photography and humor (a video of a calico fight!).

I am pasting a couple of them.

About coloration, I think that it is allowed in most breeds except the ones where a specific coloration is mandatory for the breed, regardless of gender of the cat (like russian blues, chartreux, tonkies, abyssinians, singapuras, somalies, etc). I know that turkish vans are allowed 'calico-coloration' and one surprising thing I knew from a himalayan breeder at the cat show is that there are 'tortie-pointed' himalayans! I do not know if that applies to siameses, though.
