Hi, we just adopted a new kitten and turns out it is a male calico(m)

I wish I had photos of him, but he has only been here a couple of days. My vet was very excited that it was a male calico. We had no plans for another cat, but he is so sweet and well you know...we are suckers, basically! We are building a new house wayyyyyyyy in the country and he somehow found his way here. We think he traveled under a hood and got out when the car or truck stopped here! My DS says that God sent him to us.

We have a dog and a 15 yr old cat. She is none too happy, so if you have any advice, it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Esther and Oliver-calico boy

Calico boy? I have never heard of a calico boy. I can't wait to see a picture.
Congradulations on your new kitten. btw how old is he?

Congratulations on your new kit! Sounds like he knew how to find his people, even if he had to hitch a ride to do it! I've always heard that male calicos were very rare but this is the third one posted about in recent months so am wondering if the old adage about them is no longer valid. Will enjoy seeing a photo. Hi Esther! Welcome to you and your new calico boy. Can't wait to see a pic of Oliver. You have quite a boy indeed to have the honor of being a calico. Calicos are special cats. Of course being a calico myself, I might be a bit biased.
Anyway, try and give your older kitty lots of extra attention and special treats, especially when Oliver is around. Let her see that only good things happen when the new kitty is in the room. There will probably be hissing and an unhappy 15yr old for awhile, but I am sure in time they will get used to each other.
Best to all of you.
