Is Molly a True Calico?

brenalm Oct 09, 2003 12:12 PM

I am not up on my cat breeds, but have heard that Calico's can be somewhat sensetive to sound and rather high strung. The sound part is true of my beautiful Molly - but I wouldn't call her high strung, rather - hyper alert. Any comments are welcome.

Well, calico is not a breed, it's a color description. I can never keep the calico/tortie debate straight in my head. Mom calls me her muted (dilute) calico and you kinda resemble me, Molly.

Sure do. Thanks for sharing. Given the responses - I'd have to say Molly is more of a Torti. She's the softest thing. Very hard headed when she has her mind set on something, but also extremely smart. I love both my kits so much, but Ziggy (orange tiger) doesn't seem to register as quickly as Molly. For instance, Molly instictively knows not to get close to a candle flame. Ziggy however, constantly zooms in too close and zaps a few of his whiskers off. Its strange. Maybe Torti and Calico colored cats are more intelligent?
