Dis just in fwom da Wochester City Animal Serbises:
Hi everyone!
I know that we're all crazy busy, especially during the holiday season but I
have a favor to ask of you and it is URGENT. Chris Fitzgerald contacted
Habitat for Cats this week and was looking for some data to present to the
City courts next week. Rochester Animal Services is going to bat for the
feral colonies that are said to have a "caretaker" (someone feeding them
regularly). This is big news for ferals, creatures so easily forgotten
about! Ferals have been quoted as being "the most neglected animal in the
humane network." I believe his goal is the get the City to recognize these
cats as "owned" animals. This would indeed cut down some on the high
euthanasia rates at RAS. We have a database of colonies that we are trying
to "manage." Colonies where our volunteers have begin the TNR process.
Chris would like as much of a complete list as possible of all calls logged
in/reported involving cats within the city that have a caretaker...even if
we have not yet begun TNR. He needs this info by tomorrow.....please, if
you are able and if it pertains to anything that you know, send me the
following:
Caretaker, City Street, approximate number of ferals. On behalf of the
hundreds of city ferals....thank you!
