Central Florida cruising.

Hi it took me some time to locate this forum.
I went crusing through some backroads Monday night.
I found a young yellow rat snake and a 4 ft. corn. The corn was beautiful but was dead in the morning. It apparently had been run over just before I found it.It didn't put up much resistance when I picked it up now I know why. I WOULD RATHER GET SKUNKED THAN HAVE THAT HAPPEN. Oh well I hope I have better luck next time.

I have had luck finding ratsnakes and cornsnakes on the roads right outside Tampa. I would really like to see a rattler, kingsnake and gopher snake. Any ideas on good places to cruise?

thanks

Hi,
I'm from Tamps originally. I moved away in 79. It is so developed you don't find many big snakes. I used to find kings on the banks of the large drainage canals. We don't have gophers here they are called pinesnakes and are very rare I've only found about 5 in 35 years of hunting. Diamondbacks are more common in remote areas. Although I have heard of them being found around the airport. Good Luck.

Thanks, I road hunted Ocala last night and found one water snake and one green snake both were roadkill. I am originally from Phoenix and am used to finding alot of snakes on the road. So far I have had no luck north of Tampa. Thanks for the info
