Model Railroading

Chatanuga May 30, 2007 09:58 AM

Any other model railroading/railfanning cat owners around on here?

I'm working on a decent sized layout in my basement (http://chatanuga.org/WLMR.html), and Chessie enjoys going down with me and watching the trains from the basement steps.

Sorry , no railroad buffs here, but I bet Chessie enjoys it. Does he ever try to take a ride?

He hasn't tried to take a ride on any of my trains.

When I first took him down to the basement, he did try to climb onto the layout from the stairs a few times, but after that, he's only done it once. I always take a couple of his toys down with him, and he'll wander around checking out the basement and then play with his toys some. After a while, he'll then either go sit on the stairs and watch me and the trains or go to the top step and lay on the carpet for a nap.

And in the living room, up until about three weeks ago, I had my Lionel trains set up around the perimeter of the living room. The first time he saw that run, he hissed at it and then sat on the couch and watched it go around. After that, he would walk around and follow it. He would see it go behind one end of the couch and then go around to the other end of the couch to watch it come back out. He's never attacked the trains or tried to play with them. Right now, I don't have the Lionel set up. When cleaning the litterbox in his kennel, the dust would settle on the track and then get spread around to the rest of the track and the train wheels, causing the trains not to run well. I got all of the track cleaned and the track and trains packed up for now. Once he's out of the kennel 24/7, I'll be getting the track put back down and reintroduce him back to the Lionel trains.
