Leo loseing wieght

kissnut May 28, 2003 11:09 AM

I've been away for a few weeks and just noticed one of my females has lost a lot of wieght.I have seperated her and she still seems to be fairly active and poo's fairly regulary.I pretty sure it isn't a parasite as all the other gecko's are very healthy and fat that are in the same cage.I will take her to a vet but just want some advice as to what the problem may be.I have also been feeding her Hydro life.Any help is welcolmed.

Can you post a pic?

Did you search the enclosure? Is it possible she laid eggs and that's why she looks smaller?

If she's eating regulalrly and pooing regularly and the feces seem normal, I wouldn't take her into a vet right away. You did the right thng seperating her, maybe she was just getting bullied and losing the competition for food. Give her extra treats and a varied diet and see if you can't get her weight back up.

If she has other symptoms, such as loose stools, deworm her yourself or take to vet. Geckos fed crix will eventually get worms if you don't deworm them every six months or so. A treatment with panacur won't hurt her and may help.

Panacur, also known as "Safeguard". You need oral syringes too. You can get online or at petstore. Once you have the stuff, post to get doasge, I have the dosage prescribed for my geckos by my vet but others say it is a bit high.
