Agression!!!

jwr0201 Oct 15, 2003 06:46 AM

Two of my geckos are getting a little agressive with each other... I have three Females in a 20 long tank that are 6-8 mos old. The two larger females seem to be claiming territory. They do not chase and fight - but will take a snap at a tail if the other gets too close. My younger female is not involved at all and has free run of the tank. They are definitely NOT males. Ideas at to this behavior???
Thx - RR

Well, do you know at what temp the females were incubated? I haven't personally dealt with hot females, but I do know that they can't be housed with other animals, bad temperment, etc. If this isn't a possibility, maybe they just don't like each other. I've had one female "chew on" another female that she had actually lived with previously. If you think it's just territory and are set on having them all live together, I'd suggest taking all of the females out of the tank (don't want the younger one thinking she owns it either), let them live in shoe boxes for a little bit and then introduce them all back in at the same time. Perhaps even "redecorate" the inside of the tank. It's just a thought. I think separating is best, but trying again may work just as well.

Good luck!
