The great state of Texas, Fort Worth to be exact. Anna I just named my newest anery hatchling Aaaanold , in honor of your new gov.

aplaxco Oct 15, 2003 01:42 PM

Hee hee...politician, actor, snake...whatever... Good name. I heard there are some women around that wish Aaanold had no arms too.

I'm trying to convince my family to move to Texas now. I was thinking Arlington or Garland...somewhere near Dallas. Of course I haven't been there and it could be a total dump but it's a lot cheaper to live there than here. The forcasts from the real estate page look good. Besides my BF hates CA because it's too liberal. Texas might be a good place for him. He's kind of a good ol' boy. From one cowtown to another...

How's Fort Worth? Nice area? Maybe we could be neighbors.

FT Worths great. I work in Arlington, it's OK. I've been in this area for 25 years. Ive seen Arlington grow from about 50,000 to 350,000. Too many people crammed into too small of a place. FT Worth is alot more laid back than Dallas, Arlington, or Garland. Overall it's a pretty good place to live, lot's of work, and pretty reasonable cost of living. Only draw backs are lot,s of 100 degree days in the summer, no mountains, and no beaches.

aplaxco Oct 15, 2003 03:19 PM

I think we had 30 days here this year that reached or went over the 100 degree mark...so I guess we're used to that at least. Sacramento gets hot just not very humid which I discovered on a trip to Mexico is MUCH worse. 85 degrees can kill you if it's 90% humidity. I would miss the beach and mountains though...it's only an hour and a half drive to either one from here. California is really a beautiful state. It's too bad they've made it so hard to live here.

I'm from Willits, CA (I'm sure you haven't heard of it.A Little town in northern California.Personnally I think the Governer should have to be able to pronounce California correctly. California is a great state I live in the mounntains but it's a 45 minute drive to the beach so it's a decent spot.

Actually I know Willits because I used to perform for many of the local Rennissance Faires and their is a Celtic Festival in Willits. I haven't ever been but I have heard it's a great little town and a neat festival.

I am with you regarding our new governor but at the same time I think it was probably the lesser of many evils. I just hope he can start to get us back on track.

bloughchiboy Oct 18, 2003 08:16 PM

Now thats just really suprising. No one has ever heard of Willits lol.But seriously the fairs are great.

Well...you know... I travelled around Northern CA a lot doing those fairs so I know a lot of little towns no one else knows of.

I meant to ask you...is Asmodeus named after the adder from Redwall? Very cool name.

I also had to laugh when I saw your cat's name. I used to have a cat named Freeway.

Yeah, the adder from redwall. You probably don't want to hear the story of our cat but hear we go. We were walking along main street which is really highway 101 and saw this little ball of fluff ahead of us. So, we go to see what it is and find it's a little tiny cat just a few weeks old. We bring her home and now she weighs 16 pounds.

ever do any field collecting/observation around there? If so what have you encountered?

Sasheena Oct 16, 2003 12:22 AM

Not much... .

In our backyard we have whiptail lizards, side-blotched lizards, fence/tree lizards, sonoran toads, (some toads are red spotted, some are green spotted). We get huge flame winged dragonflies visiting. Ground snakes Sonora Semiannulata are always plentiful. Some land we were planning on purchasing was nice, we were checking it out and found a huge Desert Scorpion, Juvie Coachwhip, and of course the plentiful lizards.
