Please take a look at his nose

Nakor Oct 15, 2003 08:09 AM

Hy,

I hope someone can help me. This is a pic of my male Varanus acanthurus. It's his nose that worrying me. Can one say if it looks ok or if I should take him to a vet?
I got the monitor 5 weeks ago and he's healthy and activ. But his nose looks strange.

Best regards,

Nakor

Caused by smacking/rubbing it's nose on walls, glass or screen. Resolve it by trying to find the root of the problem. I would keep an eye on it and watch for behavior that it is not finding what it wants in the enclosure.

The basics, temps, humidity, security would be where I would start.

Good Luck,

As Robert said, keep an eye on it to see if it is still rubbing its snout. It may have done this in the first week or so that you had it but stopped now, for most animals in a new enclosure will look for escape routes before checking out what's on offer inside.
