Cat Adoption Pending

cyclopsgrl Dec 04, 2011 02:50 PM

I think more people hang out here than on any other board.

Just wanted to let you know that I think I am getting another cat. It has been a little over a year since I lost Pookey last November at age 19. I am finally ready and have met a little female 4 y/o named Sparkle at the Humane Society/SPCA. She has been returned more than once because she doesn't like other animals in the house. Not a problem for me. I have sent the paperwork in and have to be accepted. Hopefully I can get her next weekend. I may need help with a new name, not crazy about "Sparkle". Here is a photo of her from the SPCA adoption website.

Ahhh, what a beautiful and lucky girl kit to have you find her!

We kind of like "Sparkle" but she is a refined-looking lady so perhaps needs a different name.

She will tell you when she's lived with you a while, we bet. She has the same intelligent eyes & look that Catiya had and it took a long time before Catiya let mom know her real name. Mom had tried a bunch of them with no results but when she said "Catiya" she turned around like, "Well, what took you so long to figure that out!"

We kits are just so much more knowing than these humans!
Thanks for sharing the picture. Let us know when the adoption comes through!

this is Pita and Sassy's momma...
she is a cutie, but you're right she does not look like a 'Sparkle'. She looks like coffee creamer and brown sugar, lol. beautiful eyes. I agree that in time she will let you know what name she likes. Took me about 3 weeks with Sassy. I was going to call her 'Caramel' because she has a beautiful caramel colored stripe on her tummy. Then I kept finding myself telling her to stop sassing me (she would meow a lot, almost like she was nagging in a cute way), so Sassy she became.

Hi Andi. And we know how Pita got his name; does he still live up to it? MOL

very much. BTW he has a job now I think
more than once I have caught him nearly a halfmile from home at the local Costco. joke is at my work is that he is thier unofficial food taster. I keep telling them I am going to take and get him a costco card and clip it to his collar (if I can get him to keep one on. he loves running about naked. but atleast he is chipped).
he and Sassy are the only cats I have ever seen look both ways when crossing a road (and really only need worry about one road and there is not much traffic. the costco is on the otherside of a park from me)

cyclopsgrl Dec 06, 2011 06:41 PM

Princess Snow Queen it is, then. LOL!!! Love it.

I haven't decided if she is "Sparkle" as the Humane Society named her or something else. She kind of reminds me of a Daisy. I'll have to see once I get to know her.

Sparkle is here! (I am keeping the name Sparkle). I found out she was turned in to the SPCA last March as a Stray. She was clearly someone's pet, so they think she was lost or abandoned. Someone adopted her a month or so later, but returned her because she "didn't get along with other pets". Come to find out, the lady had six other cats -- Sparkle hid out all the time. She is adjusting very fast. I spent about an hour with her at home and then went shopping a couple hours to give her run of the house. She is sticking close to me, but purring constantly, eating, and using the litter box. She is very sweet, gentle, and purrs all the time. I suppose, being out of the cage after spending most of 9 months in one feels pretty good...

Thank you for the warm welcome back to the boards. I have stayed away the better part of the past year after the loss of Pookey and am glad to be back.

Sparkle is very gentle. She is not declawed, but is using the scratching toys/posts well and not the furniture -- so far, so good on that. I am treating an eye infection and she sees the vet on Saturday for an initial check-up. It is nice to fall asleep to the purr of a kitty once again!

She says hello and may pop on here one day herself very soon!
