In the year of 1835 an intrepid band of explorers set out frum da city uf Boston. There were twelve coffured wagons in a twain dat hewld all der wurldly possesions. The twavelers were in search uf a noo life. The stories told by those who had gone before were intriguing, filled with the wonders of a new land. Land free for the taking. Gold and gems to be mined. All there for the taking by those who would dare.
They stwarted owt on a sunny day in April, filled with excitement. "Wagons Hooooooooooooo!" cawlled out the wagon master, Capt. Larry, a one-eyed, retired sea captain. He sat his horse wit the same stately elegance he had when standing at the wheel of his formur ship. The wagons stawrted off down the street and owt uf da city.
The furst wagon carries Capt. Larry's fambly, his dawtur Franci, hur hubbykit Tare and da kittlins Mao and Joe, Sly and Pixie. Dey hope to stwart a noo business in da west. Franci has a fine head fur figgers an Tare hopes to haff time to explore da history uf der future home and to write stories uf der adventures.
In the next wagon are Franci's sisfur and hur hubbykit, Oreo and Vester wit der dawtur Willow. Great Aunty Tita sits wit Oreo on da seat while Vester walks awongside. They are fawrmers in surch of land.
