Ellen here. I haven't posted in a while because it was just too difficult, but thought everyone should know what is happening.
Both Star and Quentin are gone. Almost two weeks ago we had to take Quentin to Animal Care and Control. He got very hostile and seemed to dislike my husband. Quentin was hissing and growling at my husband for no apparent reason. The cat had no health problems, and though we tried Feliway, it didn't seem to do much. Quentin ws also constantly picking on Star, wouldn't let her eat. His whole personality changed: went from an easy going cat to bad tempered. We didn't know what else to do.
Star didn't seem to miss Quentin at all; in fact she became more active and had run of the house, was eating better.
The she got sick. It started out with bronchitis, so we took her to the vet and got pills and injections. Star was better for awhile, then had trouble breathing. Another vet visit and X=rays. The x-rays showed a shadow in her chest and trachea. The trachea seemed to be closing, making it difficult for Star to breathe. She also stopped eating and was wheezing constantly. No one could figure out what caused this, only that she was getting worse. The only thing left to do was to have her put to sleep.
Both cats were 14 years old. I probably won't post on the boards, though will still be reading them. It's difficult being without cats. but I don't want to adopt any right now. I would rather wait for awhile.
Just thought that since I was an active poster for awhile that others needed to know what was going on.
Ellen
