CV gets up an meanders offur to da tabul. "Mind iffun I sit in?" he meows. "Pwull up a chair," an owlder kit weplies. "Aways happy to take yur gweenpapers." CV sits down wit a chuckle. "CV ish my name an poker ish my game." he meows. Da owlder kit picks up da cawrds an deals.

As Riley speeds owt da back door, da owld gwizzled kit apwoaches da poker tabul. He sthands an watches awhile, den pwulls up a chair. "Deal me in," he meows. Da gwoup awound da tabul gulp, an moof aside to make woom fur him. One by one da kits leef da tabul till onwy CV an da gwizzeld kit awr left. "Yu awr a furry lucky fellah,"CV meows. "Furry lucky indeed."

Da gwizzled kit skwatches a torn ear. "Yu twyin to meow sumfing der, mishtur?" he asks. "No,, jusht dat I haffent seen a stweak uf luck like dat in many a year." "I fink yu meowing sumfing more dan dat," da gwizzled kit weplies. Wit dat he sthands up an twurns da tabul offur onto CV an pwullin his gun fwum da holstur. Offur in da klornur Capt Larry wooks up fwum his sasparilla. "Utho , " he meows unner his bweaf. "Now yu done it CV." Wit a sigh, he picks up his bottul an walks siwently up behind da menacing kit. He swings hard wit da bottul in his paw an hits him offur da head. He an CV race fur da door an jump on der horses. Dey tear off down da stweet an back to da wagons at a fwull galope....
