Larry: Woohoo! Sometimes a lil bit of 'bad' mews turns out to be good mews inna way too.
Most of you know that me and mom was tryin a spearamint fur my hyperthighroid ... which meant me eatin ONLY a new iodine-limited kitty food and stopping my thighroyd pills. I been eatin that food since Decembrr 1st, and altho I like it well enuff, it also meant I could not have any other cat food, treets, nor any table scraps, nor nuffin fun at all ... just that food. Well, acourse I sneaked some when I could, but not furry much at all ... just a bit here and there. I hadda get locked up to eat my food so the other kitties couldn't get it.
SnowtaMom talked to the vetdokter today after I had my blood stoled fur tests last week ... and my hyperthighroyd number is worser than it was when we started. So, SnowtaMom and me talked, and came to a decishun. I is almost 15 years old, blind, azzmatic, and hyperthyroid. I prolly only gots a few more years to walk this earf, and with all these disabililities ... well, we desided it was better fur me to go back on the pills and be able to eat whateber I want. So that is good mews to me! Lookout, pizza and cheez popcorn!
Lubby, Larry
(note from SnowtaMom) ... while the new prescription food for hyperthyroidism may work for some cats, it didn't work well in our situation ... too many other cat food bowls around, an agile blind cat, and one who loves to eat ... it just wasn't worth it any more. So, since Larry had no real problems with his methimazole, other than being on a high dose .. it works for all of us okay.)
