Aww, BC, I sorry to hear you gots an alien! We has had kitties and goggies with masses here. I dunno iffen I missed some infurmashun, but I ask anyhoo:
- Has you seen the vetdokter, and what do he say?
- Has you had a fine needle aspirate? That would preliminarilarilarily find any suspishus cells.
- Is the lumpie hard, soft, squishy, moveable, stuck onto you, or ?
-Did it grow quik or slow?
- Iffen the needle bopsy shows suspishus cells, then the vetdokter can to a surjical bopsy to take a looksee and take samples fur the labrador to test.

We not vetdokters or vet teks, but we do try to hope fur the best. Don't panik until all this has been found out. Kaeli has had lotsa lumpies ... most fatty lipomas, but one was a mast cell toomer. Nikki had a bigg lumpie in her and that vetdokter sed "it prolly cansfur, take her home and take care of her." Mom no listen to that without more tests, and found out from anuther vetdokter that is WASN'T cansfur, but a kittney cyst and she had PKD. Remi also had a furry larje lump in his mammary area a coupla years ago, and mammary lumps is usually cansfur and usually terminal ... BUT, it wasn't a cansfur toomer, it was a B9 toomer of a diffrent kind.

Don't give up hope, hunnybuns, until the vetdokter eggsplored all opshuns and tests. We sendin tons of glow that it's nuffin seeryus. {{{Buttercup}}}

Lubby, your black smoke cuzzin,
Becci

Midask9 Apr 15, 2012 12:36 PM

Becci-
gosh golly, I furgotted you iz a black smoke too! Dere sure iz a shortage ob us in da billage, da wurld could use more black smokes!

I did see Dr. Cold Hands yespurday, an despite her objekshuns, her tooked a pikshur ob my belly per mom's request. It showed a luffly alien, right at da edge ob my rib cage in my berry middul.
Da nextest step iz an ultrasound an aspirate. It iz purrty hard, not soft an squishy at all, mebe kind ob like a firm plum. We do fink it growed purrty quick, az momma neber felted it afor, but den her not squish my belly efurry day. We not able to tell ifn it attached or not, but it certainly not feel like it floatin. It tucked up in me purrty tight.

Fank mew all fur da GLOWS an luffs...

Buttercup, dis is Sparkle's Mommy, Tammy.

My two previous cats had tumors, benign and malignant. In both cases, steroids worked wonders in shrinking the tumors considerably for quite a while.

My vet use prednosolone not prednosone. Both are similar, but the one with the "L" in it (prednosolone) works better on cats. I mention it in the event she is prescribed steroids -- ask about the presnosolone if they presecribe predsnosone.

An asipration is a good next step. It will give the vet a good sense of it.

You are in our thoughts right now. We hope the vets figure it out quickly!

We needs you around fur a long long time, and we hopes it can be taked away and you all betterer, no matter what it is! {{{BC and AuntyTerri}}}

Meows Miss Buttercup. Boy you sure is one hottie patottie!
Sorry we don't have any speerience with abdominal aliens...only lumpy bumpys from vaccination and them fatty lipoma type toomers.
But we think the Snowtas asked furry good questions. We think the sonogram and needle bopsy is a good place to start. In themweantime, we are GLOWIN' like crazy for that alien to be a nice alien.

For I'm called Little Buttercup - dear Little Buttercup,
Though I could never tell why,
But still I'm called Buttercup - poor little Buttercup,
Sweet Little Buttercup I!
.
I've snuff and tobaccy, and excellent jacky,
I've scissors, and watches, and knives;
I've ribbons and laces to set off the faces
Of pretty young sweethearts and wives.
.
I've treacle and toffee, I've tea and I've coffee,
Soft tommy and succulent chops;
I've chickens and conies, and pretty polonies,
And excellent peppermint drops.
.
Then buy of your Buttercup - dear Little Buttercup;
Sailors should never be shy;
So, buy of your Buttercup - poor Little Buttercup;
Come, of your Buttercup buy!

From Ashley Kitkat's Mom......

This is definitely disturbing and very upsetting. Buttercup is still young, so that is in her favor, but it doesn't sound good. Has the vet recommended any diagnostics at all, or even exploratory surgery? Sometimes a needle biopsy can be done of a mass, during an ultrasound. And it is possible that a mass can be surgically removed, although this sounds like a huge one. Have you thought of consulting with a second vet, or does your regular vet feel that the mass is too big to do anything? Have you been given any options at all?

We will all be sending MEGA GLOW your way......

Butters mom here - the internet is a dark and scary place for the human seeking answers. It seems that for lymphoma, the mean age is right around 4-6 for felines. Also about 90% of similar cases seem to be cancer. Our second step (the first being the exam and radiographs) will be the ultrasound and u/s guided aspirate. From there, it just depends on what we find, and what the long term prognosis would/could be. Surgical excision is an option, but if is (I believe the wording would be..) large cell lymphoma, I am not sure would go that route as it seems to be the most aggressive with by far the least success. The dvm we are seeing is a 20 yr veteran from a cat only practice. She also practices holistic medicine, so we hopefully will have some other "tricks" to try along the road. We do have some oncologists available in our area, but again, not sure what route we will be going. Right now she is on Clindamycin in hopes that if it is something perhaps infectious, it will take care of it. Planning on the u/s in another week or so, but want to give the Clindamycin a chance to work it's magic if it is capable. She did have a 104 fever at the appointment where the lump was discovered, so some sort of infection is possible. Have not done full bloodwork yet, trying to make a plan where we can benefit from things the most, but do it in a way that our budget permits. Bloodwork would of course be a must prior to surgical plans. Just trying to approach this as best we can.

Thanks for the input...agreed, does not sound good. I have lost too many cats far too young, but never have had any experience with something like this.
