Mommy's Foot Update

TheZooCrew Apr 16, 2012 05:23 PM

Mommy finally got to see the foot specialist today. He reviewed all the x-rays, MRI and bone scan, and took some additional x-rays of her ankle to check the thing the ER called a lesion. This doctor believes it is a benign cyst because it is round and symmetrical, and it has not changed since the first x-rays more than four weeks ago, so at least we don't have to worry about cancer anymore. Mommy has a torn ligament, tendonitis and a stress fracture in her foot. Because it's been so long since the injury, he says there really isn't much that can be done because it is already starting to heal a little. He did order some steroids for the pain, and wants her to stay off the foot as much as she possibly can. Since the swelling has gone down, he said that she can go back to wearing her regular shoes. He wants to see her again in 3 weeks to follow up on the fracture to make sure it is continuing to heal, but said that based on the location of the fracture and the tendonitis, it may be months before all of the pain is gone.

Guess this what they call good mews and bad mews. We happy your mommy not gots the "C" word in her foot but we not happy to hear she hafta be in pain for a long time yet. We continue to send GLOW for her owey pawkie to heal up quick. You hafta giff her lots and lots of cuddles now while she is restin' on the sofa. I think you can handle that though.

GLOWS continue fur youse Mommy

TheZooCrew Apr 17, 2012 11:10 AM

Thanks, everybody. Having the evil C word off the table is a furry, furry good thing. That was Mommy's biggest worry. I am giving her lots and lots of attention. Katie got a bad virus with a terrible cough and a fever, and she has graciously shared it with Mommy, so Mommy is home from work today. That means I can give her even more attention. She and Katie are even taking sick days from school.

Yep! I like it! The new medicine is helping with the pain, so she doesn't hurt quite so bad. It still aches, but it doesn't feel like an evil gnome is twisting a knife in it now. But now we start our weekly three-day weekend, so it's all good!
