New herp room... and I need to move my chams...

gabrielmtl Oct 15, 2003 02:03 PM

Hi guys

I am moving November 15 to a bigger and cheaper place.

I want to setup my new herp room. What colors should I use for wall and ceiling?

But seriously.. I have to move my chams. In a month from now, its gona be way below freezing level outside. What would be the best way to move them? I know I would have to move the cages first and then move the chams once everything is setup, but i doupt i can arrange that.

Should I put them in a temporary enclosure? I have no idea what to do. They can NOT go outside of eigther places without some sort of heating... I could have a car outside, waiting for me, all warm... then straight to the new place.

any clues????

What ever color you like as it really has no bearing on your animals..

You could place them in a lunch bag with shredded paper towel inside a box and move them once the cages are ready. If you can get some heat packs that would be nice if the temps are low.. They won't stress bad during a quick move..

You could paint it beige with leopard spots. I'm sure they'd just LOVE that. One time I was wearing a leopard shirt, and my panther freaked out on me lol.
I got my baby in Feb. I'm in Ontario, so I know what you mean when you say "cold". Montreal is even worse than here... have fun moving in THAT weather! lol Anyway, I just stuck her under my coat, and ran to the car which my dad had warmed up for me. Mind you, she fit in a margarine container quite happily... I woul use a cardboard box with a towel and some branches off of one of your plants, or some pothos vines, or whatever you use in the cage. Wrap it in a blanket/towel to get to the car, which should be started and warm, and you should be good. Once you get there you could probably just make sure one of the rooms is nice and warm, and if you use a tree in the cage just set it up in the middle of the room and put your cham on it. Just be sure to get the cage set up first thing.
Good luck! If you figure out any tricks, let us know! I might be moving before too long as well...

I only have one cham, and she's my only reptile, so I just get my crix from the local pet shop. They cost about 5 times more than buying in bulk online though. If/when I get more chams i'll probably do that or breed them.
If you want to order online there is a good cdn site www.silkworms.ca They have pretty good prices, and lots of different feeders.
At least you aren't moving in January lol.

we will be moving in December, but you can still wear short sleeves and jeans here in december..........i live in Arizona, a great big desert.......when we move, the chams are all going into shoe boxes, plastic or cardboard, whatever we can find...i'll move all the cham stuff the first day, get it all set up, and then i will move them over......should take about 3-4 hours total, so not too bad seeing as how i have 5 of them........
