"Assisting" with the computer, kit style

topazerules Oct 09, 2012 07:28 PM

Dear MCV Furrends

Do youkits like to do dis?

Like most of you, I tend to follow da Lady from place to place in dis wil house. If she iz doing da Puter stuff, I will sometimes look out da window nearby or lie on da bed. But my favurrite place is right up close. Right now, I am lying on da "apron" of hurr printer. It is small, but so am I, so it wurrks. She wants to print out a calling list furr some activity. She has to make 49 calls and needs da list. But here iz my furry body, small but big enuff to block da printing.

Anuvver favurite ov mine, is crowding da keyboard, by purrching on da DSL box. Now DAT iz small, maybe 3 1/2 X 4 1/2 inches, but it iz WARM and I like to cozy up on it. Yes, dere iz an overlap. It makes it harrd furr da Lady to use da keyboard. She is patient at furrst and tilts da board and slides da mouse UNDER it furr a while. Den dis gets OLD, she says...

I fink she iz about to leave, so as not to disturrb me. Her hope is that I will go somewhere else and she can get hurr printing done at least.

So, do youkits hav other things you do dat I could be doing?

Anny of you like to help sew and knit? Lets talk about dat anuvver time. I especially like da crackle of da tissue patterns. Oh, and da yarn snaking out of da container... So exciting.

Wuv, Topaze from da Sunny Souf well, cloudy lately, but it will get better. You Northern kits, any snow dat lasted? How about temperatures plunging?

Well, Topaze, it sounds like you are doing a great job helping your mommy with her work. There are two things I really love doing while Mommy is on the computer. First, I like to sit or lay on the keyboard. When Mommy insists that I get off the keyboard, I switch to my absolute favorite hobby. I like to make the printer scan and print. I step on the "on" button to turn on the printer/scanner, next I step on the copy button or the scan button, and then I jump down onto the arm of the couch so I can pounce the paper as it comes out. Mommy does get a bit annoyed with me about this, because she says I keep using up her ink and paper, but hey, she has her work and I have mine!

Purrs,

BamBam
hoping Mommy unjams for her

I luff sitting next to Mommy. She pulls up a second chair sos I can do dis. Iffn she is printing, I luff to swat at da paper from time to time. She not like dis.

I also LUFF da hellofone/answering machine. I push da buttons an make it boop, boop, boop. I have taped hers saying, "Sparkle, stop that!" in place ob hers normal message on da machine. Hers friends laffed.

Oh, Franci, our mouse iz jusst not sumfin I want to sit on, maybe because da DSL box iz so nice and warm, if small. I do remempurr, one time, when we still had da old wired mouse, befurr dis cordless one, and da Lady came out and found da mouse hanging off the counter, swinging on da cord. Dat wuz when I waz friskier.
I did used to lie on piles of paper stacked alongside da keyboard, and when I got up, stuff would flutter to da floor.
But gere, dere iz no room alongside da keyboard furr papers. Anuvver fing I would scoot off da countertop and chase was a pen, if she left on out. Dat wuz fun, too, especially, if I could lose it.

Fanks furr letting me here what YOU do to help.

Ooo, Sparkle, wow, your own chair to help wiv da printing...

Golly. our answering machine iz not wike yours. Dere iz no way I could make it go Boop, Boop, Boop. I loved hearing about what you do, though. Fun and games in Mommy's "office".

Fanks furr letting me hear frum YOU

Gosh, it sounds like your mommy haz more stuff for play dan mine does. "Our" printer buttons are near da top and not where I can step on dem. And we don't hav a scanner. Before we moved here, I hav tried catching dat paper when it comes out, but here, da setup iz diffurrent. Mostly, she prints when I am not on da apron ov it and dat meens I am not handy furr catching da sheets ov paper. I agree, dat iz fun. Wow, I only jammed it once.

About da keyboard, I don't wike da feel of walking on da keys, and when I want to walk across the desk where it sits, frum da printer to da DSL box or vice versa, I giv da Lady da look and den she shifts the keyboard so I can walk either in back ov it, against da Monitor or else, in front of the keyboard, along da edge of da desk.

Fanks furr letting me know what YOU do to assist. Does dis meen, we are Admins?

I'm the only one that follows mom around. But since her printer i sup high on the desk, I don;t lay on that. Her keyboard is on a slide out platform, so I can;'t lay on that either. But I DO get right in front of her on the desk and sashay back and forth in front of the screen. She gets annoyed when she tryin; to get something imprtint done (so what's more importint than ME I ask you!) but mostly she just lets me prance my stuff until I get tired and lay down in front of her.

Yes, Catnip friend, I have paced in front and rubbed her face, when it seemed necessary to get some attention right here, right now. We each hav to do what wurrks, When I really KNOW it is time fur hurr to stop and get me to bed, den I sumtimes resort to sitting on da floor and crying. Den I sit wiv my back to hurr
and wait. I will giv hurr 3 warnings, getting more squally each time.

Den, it iz time furr getting under da desk and swishing around and a wittle nip on da ankle sometimes happens. I mean, wook how many times I gave a warning.

Fanks furr your input.

Wuv, Topaze
