Tessa-the "Purr" Mommy here. Ellen, it was nice to see your screen name again. After I lost all the Purrs a couple years ago, I too mostly lurked and kept an eye on everyone and only posted to losses and stuff like that. Now I have my 2 new "Purrs" and am slowly getting back in the swing of things as I learn their purrsonalities. I know I would have been welcome to post but it felt funny not having a cat to post for and made me miss mine so much....like I don't anyway. You too are always welcome to post. Lilly and Hank would love to "meet" their Auntie Ellen. Hopefully, one day you too will be able to open your heart and home to a ball of fur or two In the meantime you are in my thoughts.

I can only echo what Tammy and Tessa said. It's good to see you here once in a while. Ellen. Think of you often.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts. I'm doing OK, still lurking on the boards even though I rarely post.

Norma, in response to your question about Quentin and Star: we no longer have the cats.
The problems started late November 2011. Quentin became very aggressive and nasty. He was checked out, but couldn't find health problems. Even Feliway didn't work. Star became afraid of him, so we had to give him away. Didn't know what else to do.

Then Star refused to eat and had trouble breathing. The vet tried prednisone, which helped a little. Then she went downhill. X-rays showed that she had a blockage in her esophagus. She was very sick, surgery was mentioned but that was only 50-50 chance of recovery. Rather than having her go through all that, we had her put to sleep. Both cats were gone within two weeks of each other.
We haven't adopted any more cats yet. I still check out the local SPCA, so it's stil possible we will adopt when the time is right and we find the right cat.
I'll keep on checking the boards because I like to know what's going on with everyone. If/when I adopt again, I'll post regularly.

Ellen

I'm really sorry for all you went through, Ellen. Have you heard how Quentin is doing in his new home? I'm just curious because we have one foster cat who seems to be becoming quite aggressive with the other ones.

Ellen, I am SO sorry about both Quentin and Star. What an awful thing, to lose them both so close together. I hope that someday soon a kitty or kitties adopt you! You have such a good home. It would be a shame for some furries not get to enjoy what you offer!
As you can see from our signature, we've both subtracted by death, and added kits. Four of the present ones are disabled, but only I know it. They don't seem to.
Good to see your name on the board. Do stay nearby.
