I got lucky with Vivid, he was the result of outcrossing my hypotang albino male to a SGHTC who turned out to be het Tremper allbino (lucky me!). Overall, I didn't get much in quantity this breeding season, but I am very happy with the quality I got on many of my 2003 animals. I didn't breed a lot of animals I could have bred, but now those nice tang albino 2002 females I held back are really fat and plenty old enough to produce lots of great babies for 2004, with this guy Vivid as stud, 2004 should be an amazing year (fingers crossed)! I am particularly looking forward to seeing the results of crossing Vivid, my best of 2003, with Lola, a screaming tangerine albino female who was my best of 2002 (did not breed her this year). Both are 50% poss. het patternless, so there's even a slight chance I could get a screaming tangerine patternless albino...wouldn't that be something!
I'm starting a tang albino stripe project in 2004 myself, but I probably won't get tang albino stripes from it til 2006. I won't be using Vivid as a stud for that though, or the stripes would dissappear! I'll have to hold back one of my males that's less hypo than either Vivid or Vivid's father. I produced a lot more males than I had planned on this year, and though I've already sold a number of them, I have quite a few to to choose from still.
That's a very pretty Rainwater! Looks extremely healthy, too! So far I haven't seen the rainwaters reach the degree of orange the best trempers can, but I know some people are working on outcrossing them with some really nice tangs, and I'm sure the orange can be increased on them, just as it can still with the Trempers. In any case, I think the outcrossing (to create tang albino CT's, stripe albinos, etc.) is very good for both strains, as they've been inbred for quite a few generations.
