Mommy gotted dis emeow tonite from Auntie Lisa:
Dear Friends,
It is with very heavy, hurting heart that I let you know that your old pal Kiko made his way to The Bridge last night, hopefully to reunite with his little brother Lightning. Kiko got IBD earlier this year and has consequently been to the vet a lot for litterbox-related issues. Last month, an ultrasound showed he was happy and healthy. Last weekend, he stopped eating. On Monday, the vet found a mass the size of a golfball. Biopsies confirmed it was cancer. By Friday when we were able to get to him a vet oncologist, the tumor had grown to the size of a lemon, bigger than his head. I've never heard of anything, anywhere growing so fast.
The only positive to all of this was that although he had a giant tumor in his belly, he wasn't actually in pain. Yesterday morning he was running, jumping on my lap and Darren's chest, talking, eating, playing, watching The Andy Griffith Show nonstop (he loves when Barney's on screen), cuddling, and doing all his favorite things. As soon as he started having difficulty breathing last night, Darren took him into the vet immediately. Darren held him like a baby as the vet helped him to the Bridge, and Kiko kept his eyes focused on his Daddy's. At the last second, he reached a paw up and grabbed onto Darren's chest and never let go. Darren had to unhook Kiko's nail from his shirt after he was gone. I think this was Kiko's final way of saying "I love you."
And I hope you all know how much I love you too. I haven't been around much the past few years, but you all mean a great deal to me as you did to Kiko and Lightning.
With great sadness,
Lisa
